Gentoo e.V.

As a partner of the Gentoo Foundation, Inc., the Förderverein Gentoo e.V. represents the Gentoo project in Germany and Europe and provides resources for users, developers and events.
In odd-numbered months, Gentoo e.V. organizes a free German-language workshop online. In addition, international workshops in English are offered in even-numbered months as needed.
In the seminar room we revive past workshops and answer questions about installing Gentoo and building your own packages. What's new with EAPI 8? What do you need to know about USE flags? Which tools help with system maintenance or building packages?
How can I report bugs, contribute patches or my own packages?

Troisdorfer Linux User Group (TroLUG)

The TroLUG (Troisdorfer Linux User Group) is a club of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Troisdorf (AWO). We have the common goal of exchanging knowledge about free software. Both beginners and professionals of all ages, as well as private and commercial users are welcome.
In TroLUG, we have been meeting online since the pandemic, sharing the screen and organizing monthly workshops on changing topics related to free software and hardware. In the developer room, the workshops of recent years are brought back to life. We bring along demonstrators and show what we have developed for home automation. If you are interested in an alternative OS for your smartphone, you can bring a Pixel 6 or newer and install GrapheneOS with us. If you are interested in a free alternative to Whatsapp, you can find out about XMPP with free chat clients for desktop and smartphone. We will help you with the first steps from registration to your first chat!

WordPress

s in the last ten years, we would like to participate in FrOSCon again this year with a project room on both days.

WordPress is an open source solution for Internet solutions under a GPL license and is the market leader among content management systems with a market share of over 60%. The WordPress Meetups in Cologne and Bonn are the meeting place for the WordPress community in the greater Cologne-Bonn area. The Cologne WordPress Meetup meets every third Tuesday of the month from 19:00 in Cologne's Mediapark. The Bonn WordPress Meetup meets every first Wednesday of the month from 19:00 in the Sistrix training room. Our WordPress meetups are open to all interested parties, regardless of whether they are users, developers, students or entrepreneurs, and we are always happy to welcome new participants. Our meetings are usually about 1 hour on a specific topic and then there is an open discussion/exchange round for all WordPress topics. But we also like to think outside the box.
