What is FrOSCon?

Free Software and Open Source - these are the topics of FrOSCon (Free and Open Source Software Conference). Every year in August the computer science department of the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, supported by FrOSCon e.V., will organize an exciting program with talks and workshops for visitors of all ages. The event is topped off with a fair of booths from FLOSS projects and companies. The social event, celebrated at Saturday night, offers the opportunity to exchange opinions with other visitors, speakers or volunteers.

Support at FrOSCon. As every year, we need plenty of helping hands at this conference. There are many ways you can get involved.

To help us plan these tasks more effectively, please register in our volunteer system. https://helfen.froscon.org/. The relevant shifts will be added there gradually, and you can sign up for them. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at: helfen@froscon.org

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all our volunteers!

🚨 Keynote Announcement

We’re thrilled to announce the first keynote of this year’s FrOSCon: @foosel will share her adventures in open-source development. As project lead for OctoPrint and other projects, she has seen it all, the good, the bad, and everything in between. We can’t wait to welcome her to the stage!

(The talk will be given in English)

Program Update: We’re really excited—we received a large number of excellent submissions from the community this year. As a result, it was quite a challenge to put together a well-rounded program. However, we’ve now finalized the selection of 77 talks and 12 workshops, and all submitters have been notified. All accepted speakers have until July 2 to confirm their participation.

Thank you very much for all your submissions for this year’s FrOSCon. Our program team is now reviewing the more than 190 submissions and putting together the program. We are confident that we will be able to offer an excellent lineup of talks - as always, both in person and via livestream.

🚨 Call for Funding 🚨

Dear FOSS Community,

the challenging situation in the IT industry has caused many of our partners to decide not to book a booth this year. As a result, we are short on funds for the conference, including event technology, exhibition walls, video streaming, children’s and youth programs, volunteer meals, transportation costs, and insurance.

We are specifically looking for conference partners and also still need a coffee partner 😭
