Children, youth and families are very welcome at FrOSCon!
Youth camp “FrogLabs”
The programme for children and adolescents called FrogLabs has always been an important part of FrOSCon and is the biggest youth programme on an open-source conference. As of 2013, the FrogLabs are organised as part of the Hack’n’Fun project at Teckids e.V., which was spun out of FrOSCon in order to continuously work on free software topics for youth and education.
Mini FrogLabs 2026
At this year’s FrOSCon, there will be two topics on the two days of FrOSCon:
- On Saturday, there will be workshops abour the Voxel game framework Luanti: Try out games, create your own mods, design own mobs/animals using 3D software,…
- On Sunday, the topic will be game programming: There will be an introduction into the Python programming language and afterwards, attendees can create 2D games using Pygame or 3D games using Ursina
In addition, there might be other, spontaneous, offers.
Participation is possible for everyone, independent of prior knowledge of the topics. Attendees from last year cann continue their learning or even help others out in the workshops.
Daycare
For the youngest, there is also a daycare with possibilities to play and with qualified child care personnel in the site’s parent-child room – and, obviously, not to forget the traditional bouncy castle!
